Directions For Our Youth has nearly 30 years of experience delivering direct service programming to underserved communities throughout New York City. Partnering with DFOY is a unique way for your company or organization to invest in the New York community and our future leaders. Our blended program models serve the entire family, providing academic enrichment and structured activities for youth, along with skills development workshops, health and wellness initiatives, as well as community events for local parents and residents. Partnership development and leveraging the resources provided by community organizations are crucial to our success. Opportunities are driven by integrated partnerships including both traditional and innovative approaches, such as strategic philanthropy through financial donations, in-kind contributions, inclusion in employee-giving programs, and cause-marketing initiatives.

Your Funding Helps Support Local Youth and Communities Reach Their Potential

$100,000 underwrites one of DFOY’s camps for the summer and keeps students engaged in their learning to prevent summer learning loss. Our hybrid model is based on lesson plans and learning objectives that incorporate instruction and academic enrichment, with educational trips and off-site activities, in addition to sports, games, and play.

$40,000 funds college trips to Historically Black Colleges and Universities for 50 DFOY participants. Each year, these trips offer our high school students to expand their horizons and include college matriculation in their future plans. Through guided tours, exposure to classes and degree paths, as well as an understanding of the other unique educational opportunities that are available to students, our staff curates an immersive two-day experience across three HBCU campuses.

$25,000 supports stage and arts productions across DFOY’s program sites – including, costumes, set design, lighting and props. The arts is at the core of DFOY program models and our staff leverages partnerships and resources throughout New York City’s world class arts scene to bring creativity to our families.

$8,000 brings the holiday spirit to DFOY and our families. As an organization we believe the holidays are a crucial time for families and communities, so in addition to celebrations, arts productions, and holiday themed enrichment projects, DFOY provides gifts to all program participants.
$2,000 brings the Fall to life throughout DFOY program sites and supports celebrations with Fall themed treats, decorations, and family events.
